I always thought that the USPS was a model of streamlined efficiency, compared to the various postal services in the European Union, (of which I have had many unfortunate experiences).

On tracking the progress of the planes I ordered from Stephen Boone, however, I was intrigued to see the meanderings of the parcel ...

I realise that this convoluted journey is in no way the fault of Stephen, and I look forward to receiving the planes (probably today or tomorrow) and trying them out.

Ha, looks like it accidentally got a return trip home. If it travels a few more miles it could pass as an AIRplane.

Compare to FedEx: I live in the Seattle area. My daughter goes to school at Simon Fraser University near Vancouver B.C. about a two and a half hour drive from here. I sent her a package last year. It arrived two days and about 4000 miles later after being routed through Memphis, TN.

Murray: Not very efficient but surely effective..........!! All those destinations and it's not lost, stolen, smashed, and did not cost one extra cent for the additional mileage. Hope you enjoy the planes ............I hear they are worth the wait.

Murray, as Bryan said, it got missent back to MT. Strange, this usually only happens when the label is handwritten (or barcodes are no good) - seems the label is electronic, based on the first "scan".

Jay, your item went to TN because that"s where the FedEx hub is. Unlike USPS who has 2 international plants, 1 on each coast.

Yea, I know. It's just counter intuitive that it would (apparently) make economic sense to do that.

I had a similar experience when the clerk typed in the wrong zip code. The subsequent people tried to deliver it, but could not find the address and put it back in the system, which kept trying different cities until someone woke up and read the address.

looks like my previous unfortunate experiences of the UK postal service are about to be added to ... just tracked the progress again and no change from what shows in the OP ... phoned both Parcelforce and Royal Mail and they have no record of the package in their system ... just wait and see, I guess. It's only been 16 days since it was first shipped out, so not the end of the world.

Perhaps you'll be granted frequent flier miles on this package!

I ordered a package coming from Florida late on Friday. Things didn't get moving until Monday. Fair enough. But look where it's gone so far:

Williamsport, PA, United States 05/20/2015 7:58 A.M. Departure Scan

Harrisburg, PA, United States 05/20/2015 5:36 A.M. Departure Scan
05/20/2015 3:15 A.M. Arrival Scan
Roanoke, VA, United States 05/19/2015 10:10 P.M. Departure Scan
05/19/2015 9:30 P.M. Arrival Scan
Ottawa, ON, Canada 05/19/2015 6:23 P.M. The receiver must pay the duties or taxes due on the package.
West Columbia, SC, United States 05/19/2015 4:32 P.M. Departure Scan
05/19/2015 12:36 P.M. Arrival Scan
05/19/2015 9:00 A.M. The package is awaiting clearing agency review. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release.
05/19/2015 9:00 A.M. The package is awaiting clearing agency review. / Your package was released by the clearing agency.
Orlando, FL, United States 05/19/2015 5:38 A.M. Departure Scan
05/19/2015 1:35 A.M. Arrival Scan
Riviera Beach, FL, United States 05/18/2015 11:04 P.M. Departure Scan
05/18/2015 10:40 P.M. Arrival Scan
Deerfield Beach, FL, United States 05/18/2015 9:55 P.M. Departure Scan
05/18/2015 9:41 P.M. Origin Scan
05/18/2015 4:24 P.M. Pickup Scan
United States 05/18/2015 3:33 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

So it looks to me like my package was actually in Ottawa (where I live) yesterday which would be great. If only it had stayed! I guess it felt the need to tour a few more states. I wonder where it will go next.

Had the same type thing just happen to me recently (first time). Left Greensboro, NC spent 10 days in limbo, returned to Greensboro, NC, left Greensboro same day and got to me the next. What should have taken 2 days took 2 weeks.
